Many roads here have been renamed (Lornie Road to Jalan Syed Putra, Birch Road to Jalan Maharajalela), probably to sweep off British influence and establish a ‘local identity’. Personally I find it sad. This particular road lays somewhere near the parliament. I suspect there is a typo in the signage.

Sir Laurence Guillemard (1862–1951) was a British civil servant who served as high commissioner of Malaysia* when it was under the British Empire. Guillemard was one of the promoters of British policies favouring the Malay ethnic group.
